Introduction

Imagine that you are living in Heaven's Gate Airpark, nestled in a valley with a 6,000 foot paved runway at 7,000 feet elevation. One cannot live much closer to heaven that that, with their home, family and airplanes all nestled together in one of the nation's most beautiful areas. In this setting and in this lifestyle you are virtually living at heaven's gate.

Imagine high-end large beautiful homes, with hangars attached, spread out over the valley and the surrounding slopes. The size and layout of our featured log homes will average 3,000 - 10,000 square feet and run between $750,000 and $5 million before the addition of special amenities chosen by the buyer. With room for a total of over 300 such log homes, with hangars attached and taxi ways to and from the air strip, it will be the largest and most elegant airpark in the world. Each lot will be a minimum of two acres except for the Town House section which will be situated on the southwest side of the airfield overlooking the airstrip. In addition to those homes that have taxi way access, there will be approximately 100 homes that will have T-Hangar privileges for their private planes.

General Location

Heaven's Gate Airpark is to be situated on the southern slopes of the Sacramental Mountains in New Mexico. It enjoys year round clear skies and unusually warm winter afternoons. Winter mornings are crisp and clear and as the whole region faces south, the winter sun soon warms up the valley to shirt sleeve weather. Some winters have more snow than others, and rain is sufficient to keep the lush forest and undergrowth alive and well. Spring comes early and the summers are mild with cool mountain breezes. The fall is especially beautiful with the changing of the seasons, with elk and other wild game hunting available just outside the property perimeter, in the expansive Lincoln National Forest.

Current Geographical Condition

Currently, the area designated as the Heaven's Gate Airpark project by Hatfield & Company, Inc. is the result of a former developer and investment group that had limited vision and finances. Beginning in 1976, they were able to purchase and subdivide a 9,000 acre parcel of land which is now referred to as Tmberon. The subdivision designers had out-dated concepts of lot sizes and airport community development. Therefore, during the oil crisis of the early 1980s, the investor group, made up mostly of oil interests from Texas, pulled out and left the development in an unfinished state. The property has remained virtually unchanged in most ways since that time. There are currently only 300 permanent residents in the area. There are very few houses, mostly double wide mobile homes. This leaves approximately 95% of the subdivided properties without any construction. The whole area is available for the right price.
