Page 4 of 6 Medical Emergency ServiceHeaven’s Gate Airpark has a helicopter pad and emergency hospital services available in the nearby city of Alamogordo, home of our nation’s top stealth squadron of F117s. If a helicopter is not available from the military base then the local flight center’s Medi-vac helicopter will always available. The hospital is only a 15 minute flight away from the airpark. There will also be a local medical and dental clinic for less than extreme cases. ActivitiesOn-site activities will include, 18-hole golf course built around six small lakes, complete with pro-shop, currently functioning. The planned shopping center will have over 150,000 square feet of space which is also built of the finest log and stone construction. There will be ample parking with views from the bluff down to the runway and the valley below. Coffee shops and merchandise of all types will be there to delight the most demanding shoppers. From the shopping center you will be able to go down to the Sacramento River walk at the base of the bluff. Here you will enter a park setting snuggled between the river and the bluff to the west, where you came down from the upper level of the shopping center. The one-mile walk will be lighted and will have many small gathering places with benches and tables. The walk will also feature a water fall and a large water wheel. The level of the river will be maintained by pumps with computer controlled metering. Slush gates will be activated in the high water season to maintain a constant level in the river walk park. At the Equestrian Center there will be horseback riding, mountain bike trails and camping sites. Deer and elk hunting excursions are available on private property and in the Lincoln National Forest, during hunting seasons. Heaven’s Gate Airpark will also feature small lakes, in addition to those on the golf course, from approximately one half mile to 1 1/2 mile long, with boating and fishing most days of the year. Adjacent to one of the lakes is the community center where large meetings and gatherings can be planned. The center currently also offers fine dining for that special evening when you just want to get out of the house. Ruidoso airport is only fifteen minutes distance in your VLJ private plane, with ILS and GPS approaches. Ruidoso is the home of Ski Apache, owned and run by the Mescalero Indian Tribe with beginners, medium and advanced slopes up to 12,000 feet elevation. Ruidoso is also home to the famous Ruidoso Downs Race Track for quarter horses, which also features a one of a kind horse museum. Just outside of town in the mountains to the west of Ruidoso is nestled a beautiful casino resort called the Inn of the Mountain Gods. There are also shopping, dining and dancing and other nightlife opportunities. Special Attractions The Sacramento Mountains are home to modern logging companies and have a rich history of logging and local logging trains. This mountain range once supplied all of the building lumber for the major cities of New Mexico and beyond. There are no more log trains running but Hatfield & Company, Inc who are the sponsors and managers of Heaven’s Gate Airpark are committed to building a steam line that follows many of the original railways and to bring local rail service to the overall mountain community connecting the three main towns of Ruidoso, Cloud Croft and Timberon. With this development we will be able to offer a world premier steam train experience for all locals and visitors to these popular mountain ranges.
